Five Usage Tips for Single-Blade Column Tools
Single-blade column tools use one cutting edge and a large open flute to remove chips efficiently and reduce recutting. The column-shaped cutting section supports straight walls, slotting, profiling, and general material removal. This geometry is especially useful for acrylic, PVC, plastics, wood, foam, aluminum, and other suitable materials where chip space, a clean edge, and controlled cutting load are important.
Select the cutter diameter, cutting length, shank size, edge material, and coating for the workpiece and required depth. Accurate tool holding, low runout, suitable spindle speed, controlled feed, gradual step-down, and effective chip evacuation help prevent melting, burning, vibration, and edge damage. Keep the flute clear and avoid excessive tool overhang. Correct setup improves wall accuracy, surface finish, productivity, and cutter life in end milling applications.
